The New American Family

It’s too late, it’s too hard and now it’s far too little
Itís not right, it’s all wrong, I just wanna bury it with a shovel
You yell and you scream, lock the door and hit the bottle
So I take off in our car, foot to the floor and I’m gone, full throttle

You come home from work with someones lipstick on your collar
You hit me and I hit ground, right in front of our young daughter
It’s the same thing every day, whatever happened to the laughter?
It’s too late to convince me this is happily ever after

This has gone on for too long, I thought you said that you loved me
It turns out those vows we took are completely fucking empty
I’ll pack up and move on, and take our darling little girl with me
Because I’m sick and tired of spending my life at your feet

If it’s like that, we won’t try again
If you’re like that, we won’t try again

Another of the songs intended to be part of the concept record mentioned in Daddy, Don’t, I think it’s fairly obvious what this one is about. Again, the one thing I would change at this point in time is the first person perspective- I would switch it to third person unless I had a female vocalist and she wanted to sing it in first person.
