No sleep plus coffee plus empty stomach plus incredible excitement equals one tired and fidgety Shane. I couldn’t keep still at work, can’t keep still now. Hands must be doing something, I must be moving. As much as I don’t like working at 4am, there is a certain beauty to the calm that comes from being outside at 3:30 waiting for the cab- no sounds at all, just the wind through the leaves, the thoughts in your head.
Can’t wait until tomorrow- soon, but never soon enough.

Shay will be here on the 26th, and frankly, I haven’t been this excited/happy/nervous about anything in a very long time. Like I’ve said about 18,567 times already, this is a HUGE step for me, and as nervous as I am, I can’t wait for her to be here and for us to get out on our own. Now, with the excitement and nervousness, I’ve found all my thoughts turning towards it, and especially at work, I’ve needed to find ways to keep my mind occupied so that the time goes by a little bit faster. Listening to music at work definitely helps out a lot, as has writing music, but today I got curious about something. We all know I am a pretty huge Matt Good fan and I decided to go and break down how many total plays I have by album since I got my Macbook (b-sides and demos will also be noted), as well as in my top 25, which I think I will screen cap every Saturday and upload for all to see. I will also show which song has the most plays from each album.
So without further ado, here is the list:
Last of the Ghetto Astronauts: 97 (Fearless: 24)
Raygun: 76 (Generation X-Wing, So Long Mrs Smith: 18)
Underdogs: 192 (Prime Time Deliverance: 29)
Lo-Fi B-Sides: 31 (Fated: 31)
Beautiful Midnight: 624 (Suburbia: 68)
Loser Anthems: 175 (Life Beyond the Minimum Safe Distance: 37)
The Audio of Being: 659 (Sort of a Protest Song: 138)
Avalanche: 401 (Weapon: 50)
White Light Rock and Roll Review: 294 (We’re So Heavy: 49)
In A Coma: 50 (Oh Be Joyful: 22)
In A Coma- Rooms: 108 (All songs with 12 plays- if I listen to Rooms, it’s from front to back)
Hospital Music: 739 (A Single Explosion: 104)
B-Sides, Demos, Rarities: 601 (A Silent Army in the Trees: 50)
Top 25: 1471
Total Plays: 3975
Now that I’ve done that, I gotta find some other way to pass the time until Tuesday.

So, in 10ish days, Shay is going to be here. I am excited. In addition to the couch, chair and coffee table, we might be getting the TV too. I love my daddy.
So, like Dawn, I’m going to start a wishlist of things I want- games, books, dvds, things like that. Mostly so I can fill out my blog header a bit better, but it will also help me to keep track of things I want to buy.

After the awesome Meow Mix video I did, I figured I’d share a song I’ve been working on for quite some time. Lyrically, I think the song is complete though I may expand the second half to 12 lines from six, but we will see what happens. Musically, all you’re hearing is the first minute- when I have the ability to record live instruments, there will be guitar and bass added as well, and if I can figure out how to play drums well enough using a keyboard, drums as well, and likely a string track.
And if for some reason the black box says the Flickr video is private, click the link underneath it to go to the video page.

After about 4 hours of work and rearranging things, all the songs are up again for your reading pleasure. Follow the links at the top.

I’m reading Ender’s Game again. I really wish that I knew how many times I have read it over the years, but I imagine the total is around 30, at the minimum.
Shay and I are looking for places, it’s making me nervous and excited.
I’m gunna be putting up the songs today, finally. Still not sure how I plan on organizing them, so I think I’ll just wing it. If shit disappears, you know why. Mayhaps it’ll be a new theme day as well.
